NEW PUBLICATION

Guido Gay's new book “The depths recount - Roman Wrecks and more” by Luglio Editore has just been released. The book describes the author's expeditions and discoveries during his navigations on board the catamaran Daedalus, a sailing yacht but also a small oceanographic ship of unique and unparalleled performance, designed by himself.
Thanks to the equipment on board, which allows the exploration of the seabed at depths of up to two thousand metres, Gay has discovered ancient Roman wrecks and numerous modern wrecks, including the most famous one of the battleship Roma. The author presents them in the book, together with significant biographical notes and over 400 images that retrace his story, from the conception and creation of the first underwater robots to the most recent discoveries. His research has made it possible to observe and study marine organisms and deep-sea environments, and the 42 Roman wrecks he discovered and documented, have made a valuable contribution to archaeologists' understanding of how and why people sailed two thousand years ago.
